The most interesting museum artefacts. Part 5. The harmonium

In the exposition of the Navahradak Museum of History and Regional Studies, you can see an interesting musical instrument - the harmonium (or the pump organ). It is a pressure system free-reed organ, it has a piano keyboard and floor or table placing, the air is pumped through the bags by pressing the pedals. The sound of the harmonium is similar to the organ.

From the second half of the XIXth century, the harmonium became widespread throughout Europe. The harmonium exhibited in our museum is dated back to the end of the 19th-the beginning of the 20th century and was handed over to the museum by the priest of the Church of St. Michael the Archangel, where it used to be.
